Some gave all, All gave some....

It is Memorial Day, a day to remember those who served our country to protect us all, to protect our freedoms. I am fortunate enough to live in an area that has all branches of the military represented on some level. We have the largest Naval base, an two army posts, and air force base and a Coast Guard training center. I have several neighbors and family members who served in the military. I am also very very lucky that they all have come home safely and those that passed, passed in peaceful situations. I'd like to take a moment to thank our service members currently protecting us and to remember those who served in the past:

Edward Flora - U.S. Navy (Vietnam Era)
Richard Carter Morgan - U.S. Army (WWII)Purple Heart
Edward Lufsey - U.S. Army (WWII)

All three men are deceased

My neighbor James Robinson -U.S. Army, currently serving.

If you know a service member don't forget to thank them today.

Growth

We have had some wonderful weather lately as I have mentioned bright sunny days, coupled with days like today where it is overcast, thunder rolling through at times. A little shower to keep them hydrated.

It has done wonders for the garden this year. We are growing more of our own food this year than last. We now have three varieties of tomatoes, two types of onions, we have bell peppers, corn, eggplant, squash, cucumbers, melons and beans. I've also planted some lavender this year as well, I think it will go nicely with the jasmine.

I love my jasmine, it is planted right under the bedroom window so that the room is filled with the wonderful scent at night when it is time to go to bed.

Here are some pictures from today after a nice rain shower.

Balance

It is all about balance, doing what you have to do and doing what makes you happiest. And of course, nature is all about balance as well. And this week they are working together.
We have having a nice mix of overcast raining days, with sun filled days and mind temps, then a exciting thunderstorms at night!
Last night I went grocery shopping a necessity, and today I went for a relaxing ride on the motorcycle. hmmmm Have to take advantage of these moments of balance when they come along!

P.S. Bikers, don't forget to give your fellow bikers a little wave, no matter why kind of bike they are riding, they are out there on two wheels too and we need to watch out for each other. 'nuf said.

Song of the Day

A new little feature I like to call "Song of the Day" These songs reflect the mood I am in for the day, the lyrics may or may not mean anything with regard to my mood other than I may like to sing along.

Wifi upgrade for the nook

If you have a nook or are thinking of getting one you may have heard last week that they upgraded the wifi for it. It is easy to download and upgrade your nook but just plugging in the usb drive like you would if downloading a book onto your computer and then to your nook.

However, my thoughts on it after downloading and then going to the nearest B&N to try it out is "don't waste your time" it is frankly useless in my opinion. First, to navigate any webpage you may finally, eventually be able to upload onto your screen, is done by the color touch screen at the bottom, which works fine for books, and chapters of books or whatever, but not for a webpage, you are trying to navigate on a 1" screen the amount of scrolling involved is seriously annoying.

Not to mention the fact that my cell phones 3G is faster than the WiFi at the B&N and it wasn't the B&N hotspot for the nook it was an At&T hotspot, although I did try both and they both were so slow I was sure I'd go into menapause before anything came up on the screen.

If you want WiFi on a portable device bigger than your cell, my advice is go for the Ipad, you'll be much happier.
