The Calm Before and After

There is always a calm before the storm, in this case the calm was before it was too hot for anything to be moving, triple digit temperatures, gardens and lawns dying, everything turning brown. We were 3 inches under the rain count for the month of July.

Then the rains came....

...and came.

Two hours later we were 1 inch above the normal for the month. Four inches of rain in two hours, reeked some serious havoc. Our end of the street flooded for the first time in 15 years. I have never seen even get close to our driveway, but this came up the driveway, over curbs and sidwalks. Incredible.

After the storm we have had much cooler temperatures, today for example, August 1, is a high of 71 degrees. August is normally our hottest month. I'm not complaining it is nice to have the doors and windows open and hopefully what is left of the veggie garden will be saved.

Makes for excellent knitting weather. A gently reminder, four months until Christmas! Time to get knitting!
